Old-School Fashion: Yes Folks, It’s Coming Back!
Now we all probably thought we were rid of the bell-bottom pants, the textile-speckled jeans and finally the bell-sleeved tops, but in recent fashion shows, all of these are making quite the appearance on the runway! While fashion has certainly come a long, long way, there are still many items from the past that are popping up all over the place. Many baby-boomers never would have thought that their era of clothing would eventually get back into style, but that is the definition of old-school fashion: fashion that repeats itself.
The nineteen-seventies and nineteen-eighties are some of the most popular old-school fashion that is slowly but surely being brought back. The clothing is just the first step in this fashion returning, hairstyles, accessories and even the attitude of the younger generation is flip-flopping and switching back to the old-style fashion! You may be questioning yourself, wondering why exactly designers are tapping into the past for the future styles, but the answer is simple: television!

Designers are taking a lot of their inspiration from shows like Happy Days, the Brady Bunch and Silver Spoons and that is the reason why you will see in a lot of upcoming fashion shows, browns, oranges, brilliant patterns and fabulous fabrics. While we are not exactly resorting back to the past for all of our style, there are some things that are being recreated and redesigned but will still hold onto that old-school fashion feel. Old-school fashion caught on like wild fire and while it may seem like we are recycling styles, we are actually recreating something beautiful from something in the past!
There is something extremely sexy about a pair of fitted jeans and a loose fitting tee shirt all pulled together by a rainbow belt. Old-fashioned style back in the day was all about the human body and showing just how beautiful it is. Fringe tops, beadwork sandals and low-riding, tight fitting jeans are all part of the old-school fashion that we are seeing now-a-day as new age and old school meet.
While the media may crush some of the celebrities that opt to wear something dated versus the newest fashion, the truth of the matter is – every single person has a soft spot in their heart for old-school fashion. This runs true but the popularity of it. Once it was reintroduced into the scene and the younger generation caught onto old-school fashion, it turned from old-school into new-school and parents are absolutely baffled!
So even though now-a-day, old-school fashion is more appealing to the eye, there are a lot of core values that are still absolutely apparent in the clothing and when you see old-school fashion on the runway, you will definitely see a difference in it from years and years ago. Designers in this day and age are not merely trying to recreate all of old-school fashion; they are simply taking some of the very best pieces from the past and are updating them for the future!
