Techno Fashion: The Future of Fashion

Techno fashion is here!  It has finally exploded onto the scene and instead of kids just running around with glow sticks attached to their pants, the fashion industry has accepted techno fashion as an actual genre now.  In a recent runway shows, techno fashion has been popping up everywhere and yet people still do not understand exactly what this futuristic fashion is all about.  Well, in this article, we will explore the future of techno fashion and explain exactly what it involves – we had to dig a little to get to the bottom of this one folks!

Techno fashion centers basically around the future.  Shiny materials, tight fitting pants, different stitching patterns, things that light up, skirts that transform into pants, dresses that transform into a completely different creation; these examples are all part of techno fashion.  Techno fashion is definitely one of the hardest fashions to get into and to make clothing for, there is a lot of technical items to process and a designer really needs to think about his/her design in order to get the techno/futuristic feel to it.

For instance, a New Look silhouette of the nineteen fifties is sent out onto the runway and then the skirt is released and risen up to a mod mini-dress while decorative metal plates drop from hidden pockets in the bodice would be an example of a techno dress.  This is actually a design that one of the many techno designers sent out onto the runway and wowed the entire crowd when five of his dresses transformed right before their eyes.

One of the biggest elements when it comes to techno fashion is the surprise.  Techno fashion designers are constantly looking for new ways to surprise the crowd and keep them guessing, in this beautiful fashion we call techno, everything goes and there are absolutely no rules. 

Another example of techno fashion would be installing tiny pulleys into a dress to hike up or move down the hemline in accordance to how the designer wants it.  This is just one ingenuous invention that one of the techno fashion designers came up with.  This allows the designer to hike up the dress and change the bodice right before the viewer’s eyes, or if the dress is a mini-skirt, he can turn it almost into an evening gown right before everyone’s eyes. 

There are many different things that you can do in techno fashion; anything from adding a light someplace no one ever would have thought, or keeping it very simple yet futuristic at the same time.  Many techno designers have taken that route and have made their techno designs quite simple, but to be honest, the more over the top you go, the better when it comes to techno fashion.  Glow sticks, LED lights, pulleys and transforming garments are some of the core elements that many techno fashion designers stick to and are constantly striving for.  The crowd wowing as soon as something transforms right before their eyes is a great feeling to a techno designer and one that they strive to get with every, single, show.
